Did you see that?
It's like a reflection in the eye.
A blue deeper than sky.
I walked there.
See it? The invisible strand?
Beneath the fluttering banner.
The ocean is a fierce lover.
I've loved her since my birth.
My legs never felt as steady,
On anchored strands of earth.
It's a dark sky, now.
An infinite mirror of glimmering points.
A reverie of awe,
A frieze of freedom,
A story of a thousand lives.
The stars are a distant mistress,
That I will never know.
This illusion is a small comfort.
Desire only grows.
I'll love you in every age,
Through all of my thousand youths,
Through winds of time and change,
Or the pain of hope and truth.
